Power Being Restored At CES After Outage
13 January 2018, 05:40 | Austin Hogan
The blackout in the Las Vegas Convention Centre's Central and South Hall bridge meeting rooms occurred at approximately 11.13am local (Pacific) time on the second day of the show. Intel poked fun at the situation with its own set of tweets, calling the blackout the best new device of the event.
In the meantime, attendees had been evacuated from the affected space, which hosts booths for LG, Samsung and Sony among others. But the situation itself was an incredibly risky one.
The Las Vegas Convention Center, where CES is taking place, is now experiencing what event organizers are calling an "isolated power outage".
Organizers said power was restored to the convention center's South Hall within minutes while other areas took much longer.
A preliminary assessment found that moisture from heavy rains on Tuesday had caused a "flashover" in one of the convention center's transformers, it said.
With the show's biggest exhibitors inside the Central Hall this is a multi-million dollar outage on many levels. Which the attendees of CES 2018 briefly didn't have access to because of a mysterious blackout.

Jenner seemed a natural at holding little Dream , which comes to no surprise since she has six nieces and nephews to practice on. Jenner probably asked tips from her elder sisters, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian , how to prepare their homes for babies.
Most are taking the disruption in stride-at least on social media. They did not offer an explanation for what caused the moment now known as #CESBlackout.
From an exhibitor standpoint, the outage could have rolling implications throughout the rest of the show.
"For two and a half hours it was a reboot", Lauren said.
The CES event draws tech companies from all over the world.
Despite this, many have noted that power outage and the weather were not the only problems of CES 2018.
Some false info. Event staffer #CES2018 who told me power was down in all halls at LVCC was wrong. Phones were even hostages of charging stations they were put in. The buzz created by a loss of power has the potential to overshadow one of the most important trade shows in the consumer tech industry.
