Nicholson then ran out and began driving to a relative's home in Riverbank.

Investigators believe the woman's son, 28-year-old Matthew Nicholson, was in his bedroom playing video games and apparently got upset and started yelling.

According to the police, Nicholson was yelling in his bedroom while he was playing video games, and his mother went to check on him. He fired twice into a wall and then shot his mother in the head.

According to police reports, both parents were blamed - and threatened - resulting in Nicholson pointing to the gun to his mother before his father could relinquish him of his weapon.

While Loren Nicholson called police at around 9:48 p.m., his child fled the scene and headed to his sister's home in Riverbank, the nearby news station announced.

'The father grabbed the gun, emptied it'.

A family friend told Fox40, "I understand that he would've killed the father too, but the gun jammed".
