Israeli PM Netanyahu Warmly Greeted in New Delhi on Arrival for Week-Long India State Visit

On Wednesday, PM Modi will accompany Netanyahu to Ahmedabad. Later in the day, the Netanyahu will meet with Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj.

Modi received Netanyahu at the airport reciprocating a gesture Israeli Prime Minister had extended to him when he himself had visited Israel to commence his landmark visit to the west asian nation in July 2017.

"The visit is a fitting culmination to the silver jubilee year of the formal relationship", foreign ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said on Twitter.

The trip comes about half a year after Modi became the first sitting Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel.

Modi will also join Netanyahu during a visit to a Center of Excellence for Vegetables at Vadrad in Gujarat.

The Prime Minister's Office said: "A special welcome for a special visit".

Over the course of the visit, Israel and India will sign a series of bilateral agreements.

In November, the defence ministry had chose to retract from the process to acquire a batch of Spike missiles from Israeli firm Rafael Advanced Defence Systems.

"This visit is an opportunity to enhance cooperation with a global economic, security, technology and tourism power", Netanyahu said in a statement ahead of his visit. He also said in the case of Justice Dalveer Bhandari at the International Court of Justice, Israel not only supported the Indian candidate but it adopted, with four more countries, along with India, Bhandari's candidature.

This phone talk came after an ultimatum issued by US President Donald Trump to the Europeans to tighten in the coming months the terms of the agreement reached in 2015 between Iran and the major powers, if they want to avoid Washington's withdrawal from the deal. The two leaders will witnessing several innovative technologies in the field of water, agriculture and health at iCreate and visit a Centre of Excellence. "There is also a schedule meeting with businessmen in Mumbai", the envoy said. Moshe's parents were killed in the 26/11 terror attack at the Chabad House.
