Mourinho has made no secret of his admiration for City this season but has voiced his concerns over United's failure to compete with their rivals financially.

"I told him don't gamble too much before you know the extent of the injury".

This was indeed the right response but we didn't see anything new, and nor was the no-show at Wembley a surprise either.

The Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) have issued a statement following Jose Mourinho's comments about the Old Trafford atmosphere in the game against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Well, according to The Mirror, the club was in advanced talks with Ajax wonderkid Justin Kluivert ahead of their clash with Huddersfield at the weekend.

As the first great Scot Sir Alexander Matthew Busby once said, "if you are good enough, you are old enough" and Jose Mourinho seems to have certainly bought into that.

"Of course because of the way Alexis plays, always wanting the ball, he always wants to show what he can do and that is important for us".

Needless to say, if United are to maintain second spot and progress in the Champions League, this is where they need to improve. You like to have things to write and things to speculate, especially in the summer [transfer window].

Given Rashford is home grown and loved by the fans - along with seriously reluctant to leave the side he loves, it could be the case that Martial is the one pushed out, given his relationship with Mourinho, which can be hard at times, along with his desire to be starting week in, week out - and having less responsibilities defending - all things Mourinho is not willing to compromise on with his wingers and forwards. In the absence of any imminent changes in the former, we therefore concentrate on other areas where we can have an impact in the short to medium term. "Because to punish anyone I also need someone to punish me because we are a team and when we win we win together and we lose together".
