REPORT: Detroit Lions' Matt Patricia to hire former Syracuse head coach

The Detroit Lions officially announced the hiring of Matt Patricia Monday afternoon.

But it looks like that may be changing now that he is going to be the head coach of the Lions.

His deep background with general manager Bob Quinn and his comfort with ownership. Now that he is the face of the Lions, Patricia decided his face should be a little less bushy.

White returns to the NFL after spending the 2017 season working with the University of CT football program as the senior quality control director of football research and special projects.

"We will be organized, we will be detailed" Patricia said, while addressing the media. "My comfort level with Bob is huge". Patricia's defenses have finished in the top 10 in scoring defense every year in the six years since his appointment, and eight out of the nine years since he began calling plays. And, honestly, a common ground that we both understand is how we both envision a team being run.

Germany Has A Government Again - If The Voters Approve It
The SPD however won assurances that family reunifications for refugees would resume in August, restricted to 1,000 people a month. Schulz has promised to put any coalition accord to a yes-or-no referendum by the SPD's 440,000 rank-and-file members.

Justin Kluivert rules out Manchester United move "for now"
Needless to say, if United are to maintain second spot and progress in the Champions League, this is where they need to improve. This was indeed the right response but we didn't see anything new, and nor was the no-show at Wembley a surprise either.

Spiders with 'long whippy' tails found in 100 million year old amber
The creatures are less than a quarter-inch long (5.5 millimeters) including their tails, which account for half that length. Egg-wrapping is a vital function for spider silk, as well as laying a trail to find its way back home".

But it was about more than being on the same page as the GM. From using much of his prepared remarks to speak directly to and about his family, to taking each reporter's question individually and personably, Patricia came across as focused, intelligent and kind. He craved a personal touch, something he grew accustomed to with Bob Kraft and the Patriots. Getting here, unbelievable welcome from the Ford family. "So if he is, they're getting a great coach".

This feeling was affirmed during the interview process. In case you were too distracted by Patriots coach Bill Belichick's cut-off sweater during last night's Super Bowl, Patricia was that bearded dude hanging out on the sidelines, whispering cautiously behind his clipboard. He's earned a reputation as a good leader and he's definitely got a big ol' brain to work with. "I feel awful for the guys in the locker room because they're the ones that put in all that work".

Patricia is married with three children.

It's wonderful how much the outcome of a Super Bowl can ultimately swing a fan base's emotions one way or another. "I just feel very bad for our guys", he said.

Detroit is Patricia's first head coaching gig and its a almost a turnkey opportunity for him: The Lions were 9-7 the past two seasons, have a solid nucleus in place, meaning he doesn't have to rebuild and he can spend his time concentrating on his specialty, defense. "He knows how much I love him".
