Tom Hardy in Venom movie trailerScreengrab
If you've been waiting to see what the new movie version of Venom will look like - well, keep waiting.
Throughout Hardy's voiceover we get random cuts from the film.
The upcoming film, though, is a stand-alone venture that bears no link to this summer's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" starring Tom Holland. But we barely even get a glimpse of the symbiote that transforms Hardy's character into the Lethal Protector. You be the judge as to whether its good or not. Don't get me wrong, those are all fine things to put in a movie trailer. "Maybe it's a break-up, a death, an accident". As Hardy says in a voice-over, "whatever it was, you used to be one of them". Sony appears to have vastly over-estimated the "wow!" factor of watchingTom Hardy sleep. For those who haven't read the comics - or haven't been paying attention - Weying is Eddie Brock's ex-wife, and eventually takes on the role She-Venom. Venom, the character, is capable of some really dark humour, but we will not know the character will be written until we have seen him in action.
Eddie was introduced by Marvel Comics in the 1980s.
One of the most interesting shots is this massive structure that looks to be a spacecraft that has crashed. We see it once at 1:02 with the symbiote locked inside a capsule, and again at the very end as it spreads up Hardy's neck. Several men with flashlights and hazard suits are covering the scene.
Plus, Sony desperately needs Venom to go well. Brock doesn't appear as his alter ego Venom in the footage.
People in white coats stand behind Carlton as he swings open a set of doors to reveal a roiling black substance under glass - possibly a Symbiote. When the Venom symbiote bonds with a human, that new dual-life form refers to itself as "Venom".
Trump says it's "un-American" not to applaud him
Others have reminded us that in Stalin's Soviet Union, refraining from applauding was in fact treasonous . To do that, however, is to miss something very important - and concerning - at work here.
