Take-Two Interactive has shared that they are "impressed" at the unrelenting sales momentum behind Nintendo Switch at the moment, although wouldn't be pushed for hints as to whether they have any more games that are destined for the plucky portable home console. So if a shopper does not have enough Gold Points to completely purchase a game from the Nintendo Switch eShop, they can use money in their Wallet or a credit card to complete the transaction.
A single gold point will be worth one pence when translated to currency on the eShop, so you'll need a fair few to outright purchase something. Nintendo says more details are on the way, and once they're announced we'll be sure to present an update as well. While this seems to be the direction of speculation, Nintendo hasn't definitively set the value of a single Gold Coin.
Under the upcoming system change for gold points, you'll earn gold points equal to 5% of the base purchase price of an eShop game for the Wii U, 3DS, or Switch, meaning you get the full amount of points even if the game is on sale.
Also, keep in mind that Gold Points expire 12 months after being issued. Gold Points will be good for a year once they have been earned.
