White House aide out after allegations of domestic abuse

A senior White House official said that he would resign after his two ex-wives accused him of physical and emotional abuse.

Colbie Holderness, 37, who is a senior analyst for the US government, spoke on the record to about her five-year marriage to Porter, detailing physical and mental abuse.

Her brother, Trevor Paulson, and a close girlfriend who declined to be named, both told CNN on Wednesday that Holderness had confided in them over the years about Porter's abuse.

Porter's ex-wives described him as having a dark side and, at times, a violent streak that White House aides say they did not see.

Porter began traveling more frequently in Trump's entourage, including last month's trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos. He was one of a handful of aides who helped draft last week's State of the Union address.

Porter previously taught at Brigham Young University and served a Mormon mission in London. She alleged he punched in her the face in 2005 and had photos showing her with a black eye.

Both ex-wives reportedly told their accounts to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In the document she says he punched the glass on their front door, cutting his hand. He would get angry and throw me down on a soft surface - to his credit, it was always a soft surface like a couch or a bed - and he would lay on top of me shaking me, or rubbing an elbow or a knee into me.

"I think it shocked him and it shocked me".

"These outrageous allegations are simply false", Porter said in a statement released by the White House. He said the photos were taken almost 15 years ago, and that the "reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described".

Porter's departure will not be immediate and he was not pressured to leave, added the White House press secretary.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Porter had gone through the typical "lengthy background check process" for his role in the administration. "Rob Porter has been effective in his role as staff secretary", Sanders said. "The President and Chief of Staff (John Kelly) have full confidence in his abilities and his performance", she said. Porter said photos published of his former spouses were taken almost 15 years ago and do not tell the complete story. "I am praying for Rob and those involved". He is kind and considerate towards all.

"Rob Porter is a man of true integrity and honor and I can't say enough good things about him". She filed a protective order against him.

"When he heard me on the phone with the police", Ms. Willoughby wrote in the complaint, "he apologized and begged me not to involve them".

In a statement released Wednesday evening, Kelly said he was "shocked" by the "new allegations" against Porter.

Porter's two ex-wives made those allegations, which led to Porter's resignation on Wednesday.

'He is a friend, a confidante [sic] and a trusted professional. "I had just tied the knot with him".

After Scaramucci came White House adviser Sebastian Gorka, farthest left, who claimed he resigned from the White House in late August, while other officials said he was essentially fired from his job.
