Highest temperatures will range from 4°C to 6°C.

Rain will develop in the west and will spread eastwards to all areas overnight.

But the country will get a momentary respite today with temperatures in the south expected to rise to 10C and a warmer climate also forecast in the north.

PARENTS hoping to make the most of the half term break will be left disappointed as heavy rain and snow gear up to batter Britain for almost all of next week.

Heavy rain is expected across Northern Ireland during Saturday afternoon and evening with up to an inch of rainfall expected.

'Overnight it is very windy for much of the country. Lowest temperatures will range from -2°C to +2°C, with frost and icy patches developing.

A spokesman said: "A very cold westerly airstream will bring frequent snow showers to many western and central areas on Sunday".

Public Health England (PHE) government forecasters have extended a cold weather health alert until Tuesday.
