Ayodhya dispute: Our priority is to join hearts of people, says AIMPLB
With the Supreme Court hearing final arguments in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board today said it was ready for negotiations based on "fair justice and equal honour".
The All Indian Muslim Personal Law Board on Sunday announced that Maulana Salman Hussaini Nadvi who had defied it on Babri Masjid issue is no longer its member. "I will be meeting saints in Ayodhya and also have a discussion with Hindu brothers from across India", said Nadvi.
Nadvi, who drew flak for his Babri remark after meeting Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on February 8 in Bengaluru, said in Lucknow that he would launch a parallel body.
Nadvi, on the eve of the plenary, mooted a formula that the land of demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya should be given for construction of Ram temple.
A veteran AIMPLB member said there was a huge difference between Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Salman Nadwi is still speaking against the board's stand".

"Babri Masjid is an essential part of faith in Islam and Muslims can never abdicate the masjid nor they can exchange land for masijd, gift masjid land".
Sunday is the last day of the AIMPLB's plenary meeting and will end after a big public meet in the evening. Nadvi was widely condemned for making the suggestion after his meeting with the Art of Living founder Ravi Shankar, a known supporter of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Board vice president Moulana Kaka Sayeed Ahmed Oomeri, secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, member Maulana Syed Arshad Madani and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi were present.
In May previous year, a Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Lucknow charged senior BJP leaders L.K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Union Minister Uma Bharti with criminal conspiracy in Babri Masjid demolition case. In its executive body meeting on Friday, the AIMPLB had made a decision to take a disciplinary action against Nadvi.
At its ongoing three-day session in Hyderabad, the AIMPLB Executive Committee unanimously passed a resolution reiterating that under Islamic Shariah land of a mosque cannot be sold or gifted by anybody and there can not be any change in the status of the land.
The land dedicated for masjid can not be sold, gifted or in any way alienated, AIMPLB said in a statement. "The country's topmost lawyers are appearing on behalf of the Muslims and we believe that the Almighty Allah will make us successful in the Supreme Court", it added.
