Wrapping up a insane day for gaming that included a new Call of Duty, a sequel to The Division and confirmation that Super Smash Bros. is coming to the Switch, Epic Games surprised everyone on Thursday evening by revealing that multiplayer smash hit FortniteBattle Royale is heading to iOS and Android. An Android beta and game support will be available a few months later. The Xbox One was suspiciously absent from the list, but Microsoft has confirmed to The Verge that it's working with Epic Games to enable this in the future. The event will be open to iOS users, but the game will be released for both iOS and Android platform. With cross-play integration, players will be able to team up with friends across several devices and platforms. "Play when you want, where you want". A total of 45 million others own the game and play it on either their consoles or their desktop computers. You'll be able to sign up at Fornite's website starting March 12, and you'll receive an invite "shortly thereafter" by email if you're accepted. Right now, it sounds like only Battle Royale is coming to mobile, not Fortnite's other mode, Save the World. Players granted access will also be given friend invite codes to share with others. In order to participate in the test, you'll need an internet connection and iOS 11 on at least an iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 devices.
