Sen. Elizabeth Warren responded to President Trump's latest attack by bringing up native women who are victims of sexual violence
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., argued that her family's claim to Native American ancestry is an indelible part of who she is - something that can never be taken away.
Warren, a senator from MA says she will focus on winning re-election this year and representing the people of MA.
"I am not running for president in 2020", Warren said.
CNN's Jim Acosta asked, "I have to ask you, because I cover the White House and I hear the president going after you from time to time referring to you as Pocahontas and speaking about your Native American heritage, does that get under your skin when he does that?"
WARREN: Look, this is what I was trying to tell you.
Despite winning the 2012 election, Warren has continued to address questions raised about her heritage in 2018.
In an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press", the Massachusetts Senator shut down requests to prove her Native American roots.
"The way I see it, at the end of the day, what the people of MA said is they cared a whole lot more about their families than they did about my background", she said. "I know who I am because of what my mother and my father told me, what my grandmother and my grandfather told me, what all my aunts and uncles told me and my brothers".
Last November Trump used the name at an event honoring Native American Code Talkers who served in World War II.
Cedric Cromwell is tribal council chairman for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, which has tried for years to persuade federal officials that it qualifies to have more than 300 acres of land in MA taken into trust. "And never used it for anything, never got any benefit out of it anywhere", she said.
Warren also confirmed that she has no plans of running against Trump in 2020.
After hearing this story, Todd returned to his initial concern: Why not do genealogical research or take a DNA test to find out her actual heritage?

I don't need to tell Vol fans not to take this opportunity for granted. "We usually come with a lot of energy". If the Vols win their first round game, they would play the victor of Miami (FL) and Loyola Chicago.
