Blizzard slams New England in third major storm of past 2 weeks
Above 3500 feet, total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected, with localized amounts up to 6 inches.
Tomorrow's high is close to seasonable at 54 degrees.
High winds are expected along the coast, southeast and eastern portions of the state, and minor coastal flooding on east ocean-exposed shorelines. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. We'll push toward 60 by late week, with a chance of rain by the weekend.
Light snow possible Monday
As power outages continue to linger, with almost a thousand still without electricity in Warren and Hunterdon counties, meteorologists are watching the potential for a third storm Monday into Tuesday. Temperatures will then drop after the sun sets, inviting a chance for sleet and snow flurries after 3 a.m. The heaviest snow should wind down early Tuesday evening, but the Tuesday evening commute may be significantly impacted. The weight of several inches of snow could bring down power lines and some trees, especially any that have already started spring budding. Accumulations of one to three inches with locally higher amounts of up to four inches is expected.
Another nor'easter is looking likely for Monday into Tuesday.
Meteorologist Mark Dixon is carefully watching a third coastal storm, Winter Storm Ferris, which is due to make its appearance late Monday night and into Tuesday morning.
