Former PM says allegations of horse trading in Senate elections should be investigated

Nearly all the mainstream political parties and their leaders, including Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and former president Asif Zardari, on Sunday condemned the incident of hurling shoe at former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, ARY News reported.

The perpetrator then jumped on stage where Sharif was standing and began chanting before he was overpowered by the crowd and handed over to the police.

The shoe was thrown by a former seminary student during the former prime minister's visit to Jamia Naeemia seminary in Garhi Shahu. He has been shifted to Services Hospital owing to injuries from being beaten up by the seminary staff and students after the incident. The attackers were identified as former students of the seminary.

In a statement, the PPP Chairman said that his Party was against the use of such disrespectful tactics against opponents since the very inception and would condemn in strong possible terms such incidents.

"Tolerance should be given priority in politics", he said.

Highligthing performance of the PML-N, he said that his party resolved major issues being faced by Pakistan when it came into power.

"Politic preaches tolerance and this teaching should be imparted by political leaders to their workers", he said.

Scott signs school safety bill
The state teachers union urged Scott in a letter Thursday to use his line-item power to veto funding for the Guardian program. Scott previously said he believed it was the job of the police to protect students at teachers from shooters.

The mainstream parties-Pakistan People's Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf-condemned the incident.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said neither it was their practice nor it was their way of politics.

It was the third attack on PML-N leaders in recent months.

In Saturday's incident, Faiz Rasool, who threw ink at the foreign minister, told the police that he vent out his anger because the PML-N had tried to change the finality of the Prophet in the Constitution.

The shoe hurled by a man hit him between the neck and shoulder.

Asif, however, directed the concerned authorities to release the suspect, saying he did not have any personal enmity with him, adding that the man must have carried out the act at the behest of someone in return for some money.
