Android users can now set up YouTube to remind them to take a break from watching videos

YouTube wants you to “take a break” from watching videos with new update

Earlier this week as part of the Google I/O 2018 keynote address, the business said it would release new features to enhance what it known as the "digital health" of its users, and maybe make them turn off their mobiles once in a while. This will prevent you from using the app anymore once you have hit the time limit you have set.

The fact that this feature isn't turned on by default diminishes it somewhat, on the other hand, people who need t be told to stop watching YouTube aren't the type of people who'll listen to such warnings so your mileage may vary on how you find this change.

Apparently, you should still hunt for any new features to pop-up as when this update gets reached globally. Notably, a new version of the YouTube for Android app is now rolling out with a new "Take a Break" feature in keeping with this theme. YouTube will also let the users to let change their behaviour of exploring the YouTube's contents. Or, more seriously, if you've run out the clock on Twitter, and a major news event breaks on the social network? On the other, these same people run updates that will remind you that it is time to turn off the computer and do important things. You will be able to set time limits on the amount of time you spend in the apps on your device. Users can set a reminder to appear every 15, 30, 60, 90, or 180 minutes.

Now, a half swipe up from the new home slider will show you a preview of your active apps and a full swipe will take you to the app tray. It's actually a simple reminder, which you can customize, telling you that you should take a break from watching videos on the platform. The reminders will come with an option of being dismissed and the feature will also allow users to disable notification sounds during a specified time period each day. The Take a Break feature can be accessed by going to Settings General, and the notifications feature is available at Settings Notifications.

Additionally, there are two more features in the new YouTube notifications menu. Until we hear more about Wear OS this fall, however, it's hard to tell what digital wellbeing for your wrist might look like.
