(G.N.S) DT.13 At least 6 people have been killed and almost 20 others injured in a suicide attack in Nangarhar's Jalalabad City on Sunday, reported TOLO News.
The incident occurred around midday when militants armed with suicide jackets and automatic guns stormed the Nangarhar provincial government's customs and finance department, triggering a gun battle, reports Xinhua news agency.
Smoke rises from the site of a blast and gunbattle between Afghan security forces and a handful of militants in Jalalabad city on Sunday. "They were killed in the blast that happened at the entrance", he said.
Earlier, health department officials in the city said hospitals had received at least four dead bodies and 20 wounded people.
"A suicide mission using a vehicle bomb hit the finance ministry in Jalalabad", said the statement circulated on encrypted messaging app Telegram.
Jalalabad is the capital of restive Nangarhar, which borders Pakistan.
