Rehman Malik holds India responsible for Mumbai attacks
Pakistan's top civil-military body today rejected as incorrect and misleading remarks by ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif who criticised the country's handling of militant groups responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The participants of the meeting said they reject the PML-N Quaid's fallacious assertions, which negated the truth.
The statement by the Prime Minister Office added: "The participants observed that it was very unfortunate that the opinion arising out of either misconceptions or grievances was being presented in disregard of concrete facts and realities".
Sharif's criticism of the military has caused divisions within his party, analysts say, with some members unhappy about his confrontational approach.
"Shehbaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan should resign", was the fourth demand of Imran.
He stresses "After all, it was Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who, resisting all pressures, took the most important and most hard decision on national security in Pakistan's history by making the country a nuclear power in May 1998".
Hours after the council's meeting, Sharif doubled down on his position, saying Pakistan was being isolated internationally due to its reputation.
The military, which has ruled Pakistan for about half its history, denies any interference in civilian politics.
Ten Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists had sailed from Karachi to Mumbai in November 2008 and carried out coordinated attacks, killing 166 people and injuring over 300. Ten gunmen spent three days spraying bullets and throwing grenades around landmarks.
India blamed Pakistan for failing to act against those behind the raids.
In an interview to 'Dawn', Nawaz suggested recently that such strikes could have been prevented. There can only be one government: "the constitutional one", Sharif said in the interview.
Pakistan did not keep its end of the bargain and sent the case to court without really investigating the conspiracy that led to the attacks.
Claiming that he is calling from Doda, Zargar said that India arrested Ajmal Qasab from Nepal and to defame Pakistan, he was labeled as Mumbai attack mastermind and subsequently hanged.
Proceeding to foreign and security policies, Sharif again targeted the army, without specifically taking its name.
"Militant organizations are active". Explain it to me.
"Deposed PM is appealing to "international establishment" to save himself from going to jail", he said adding that it's evident that Dawn Leaks and recent statement of Nawaz Sharif is nothing but a vicious attempt to malign and denigrate armed forces of Pakistan.
"Despite our 50,000 sacrifices [of lives], why is the world not paying heed to our narrative? He told me that he has not made such comments and his words have been misrepresented and taken out of context", Abbasi was quoted by Daily Times Pakistan.
The NSC, which met under the chair of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday, said in its statement that the country's top civil and military leadership conducted a detailed review of Nawaz's statement printed in a newspaper interview on Saturday.
