Elon Musk tells employees Tesla will streamline management
Tesla CEO Elon Musk sent an email to employees on Monday morning stating that the company is reorganizing in an effort to flatten management structure and improve communication.
News of the crash came as a top Tesla official who had been the main technical contact with USA safety investigators left the company to join rival Waymo. While there's no guarantee that additional sensors would have prevented the tragedies, the report is still another body blow for a company that has been dealing with more than its share of them of late.
Amid the manufacturing problems, senior Tesla executives have departed or cut back work. NTSB Chairman Robert Sumwalt released a statement explaining why his agency revoked Tesla's status as an official participant in that investigation.
"The driver of the Tesla Model S (28-year-old female from Lehi, Utah) was subsequently interviewed by the South Jordan Police and said that she had been using the "autopilot" feature in the Tesla", said a news release issued Monday afternoon by Sgt. Sam Winkler, South Jordan Police Department. Picture taken May 11, 2018. After Tesla recently labeled an award-winning news outlet an "extremist organization", some critics compared the company's hyperbolic denouncements of the press to the anti-media strategy of president Donald Trump.

Musk hinted at a reorg in Tesla's first-quarter earnings call in May, when he said that the company would be "restructuring" operations in an effort to meet its profitability goals.
"It is unfortunate that Tesla, by its actions, did not abide by the party agreement".
As well as attempting to increase Model 3 production to reach a rate of 6,000 units produced per week, Tesla was hit with a lawsuit from the hybrid-electric automotive company Nikola Motor (private) for possible patent infringement.
Tesla's Autopilot system uses cameras, radar and computers to keep speed, change lanes and automatically stop vehicles.
The Journal report said engineers were anxious there were not enough safeguards in the system and proposed adding sensors that ensured drivers kept their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. However Musk has since denied those claims by saying, "This is false".
