EU sanctions five people for organising Russian elections in Crimea
Russian President Vladmir Putin on May 15 officially unveiled a 19-kilometer-long road bridge linking the annexed Crimean Peninsula with Russian territories across the Kerch Strait.
'It's especially cynical that the bridge is opened shortly before the anniversary of the 1944 deportation of Crimean Tatars, conducted by the Stalinist regime (May 18, 1944 - 112 International)', he wrote.
Putin thanked the organizers of the project, who put the interests of the state over those of particular groups, the sappers, ecologists, scientists and other sectors involved.
Russia's last tsar, Nicholas II first proposed such a bridge, but the outbreak of World War I prevented it going ahead. During World War II the occupying Nazis also began building a bridge but abandoned the project. But many in Russia saw the move as restoring Moscow's rule over a historically Russian region.
The bridge connecting Crimea to the Russian mainland by road and rail is the longest in the country and one of the largest in Europe.
The controversial Crimean Bridge links the southern Krasnodar region with the Crimean city of Kerch and spans across a stretch of water between the Black Sea and the Azov Sea.
Harry Kane's challenge to Mohamed Salah
Mo Salah could yet write one final crowning chapter in what has been a phenomenal season for Liverpool's Egyptian worldwide . However, a surprise 5-4 defeat in their penultimate fixture against Levante saw them blow their 43-game unbeaten run.
He stressed that despite the futile attempts of Moscow to legitimize temporary occupation of Crimea, a coherent solution to a number of worldwide jurisdictions confirm - "the burden of the ideal global crime for Russian Federation will only grow".
The bridge limits the passage of vessels via the Kerch Strait to Ukrainian ports in the Azov Sea.
On Tuesday, May 15, at about 2:00 p.m., the grand opening of the Crimean bridge will take place.
"The illegal construction of the Kerch bridge is the latest evidence of the Kremlin's disregard for worldwide law", Poroshenko said.
The construction and installation of the bridge kicked off in February 2016.
The spokesperson for the European External Action Service said in a statement on Tuesday that the bridge was "another violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity".

However, I would not be at all surprised to see Avengers 4 sneak it's way into the top two when it is released next year. That figure was especially impressive considering the film hadn't even opened in China yet.
