Twitter has a new method for identifying, punishing trolls

The move is part of Twitter's plan to improve the health of discussion on the platform
The tweets also will be visible to Twitter users who choose to see everything in search.
Twitter is taking steps to deal with "troll" behaviour that "distort and detract" from the public conversation on the platform, changing how such tweets appear in public searches and conversations. Its new policy means that while the posts will not be. But if an account tweets at multiple other accounts with the same message, and some of them reply or hit the "heart" button, Twitter will assess the interactions as welcome. What we're talking about today are troll-like behaviors that distort and detract from the public conversation on Twitter, particularly in communal areas like conversations and search.
"By using new tools to address this conduct from a behavioral perspective, we're able to improve the health of the conversation, and everyone's experience on Twitter, without waiting for people who use Twitter to report potential issues to us", the company said in a blog post. Hence, tweets that don't violate the rules but were submitted by users whom Twitter deems problematic will remain visible-you'll just have to click on "Show more replies" to access them.
The company now uses a mixture of machine learning, human review processes and policies to determine how tweets are organised in conversations and search.
Trump has options if markets panic on Iran
Even so, OPEC and its allies were still trimming output more than their supply-cutting pact required. That is roughly 800,000 bpd less than the amount OPEC says the world needs from the group this year.
In the tests, the new approach resulted in a 4 per cent decrease in abuse reports originating from search results. "We're also looking at how accounts are connected to those that violate our rules and how they interact with each other".
"This is only one part of our work to improve the health of the conversation and to make everyone's Twitter experience better". But complaints have continued under Dorsey's leadership, and in March, the company made a decision to seek outside help, issuing a request for proposals for academics and NGOs to help it come up with ways to measure and promote healthy conversations.
Del Harvey, Twitter's vice-president of trust and safety, said that the new changes were based on research that found that most of the abuse reports on Twitter originate in search results or the conversations that take place in the responses to a single tweet. Such signals according to the company include, behaviors such as a user signing up for multiple accounts at the same time, or activity that the microblogging company says might indicate a planned coordinated attack on others.
"Our work is far from done", said Harvey and Gasca. "We are making progress as we go", Dorsey said.
