NJ trooper pulls over officer who helped with his delivery

New Jersey state trooper pulls over retired cop who delivered him in his own home 27 years ago

A traffic stop in New Jersey turned into an unlikely reunion when Trooper Michael Patterson (right) pulled over Matthew Bailly (left) and discovered the retired cop had helped delivered him 27 years ago.

Trooper Michael Patterson stopped Matthew Bailly in Kingwood Township for driving with tinted windows, but never got around to giving the ticket, reported. Paterson soon learned that Bailly was a retired cop from Piscataway, New Jersey, where Patterson grew up.

On the day Patterson was born, his mother Karen was out shopping when she went into labor, police said. He named the street, described the house, and said the baby's name was Michael.

Patterson then extended his hand saying: "My name is Michael Patterson, sir". Officer Bailly got instructions on how to deliver the baby thanks to a doctor on the phone.

Patterson confided that he grew up in the same town as Bailly, who in return asked the trooper in what part of the town he lived. Bailly replied that he remembered the street well because he had helped deliver a baby there in 1991 when he was a "rookie cop", police said.

According to KYW, Trooper Patterson put out his hand and said, "My name is Michael Patterson, sir".

"Bailly had four years on the job when he responded to a home on Poe Place in Piscataway".

And, state police said, no ticket for Bailly.

According to KYW-TV, the stop occurred on Friday in Kingwood Township, New Jersey. Well, it happened to a trooper a few days ago. The two began talking and realized that Bailly was a former officer in Piscataway, where Patterson is from. When she got home it was too late to get to the hospital. They wanted others to hear the fantastic story, so they shared the photos with the state police.

He then called the doctor who talked Bailly through the birth.

Awestruck with the reunion, Patterson and his mother Karen later visited Bailly and his wife to reminisce the miracle delivery and their fateful reunion. But what are the chances that you'll pull over the guy who helped give you life?
