Israeli army kills Palestinian youth in occupied West Bank

A JNF firefighter tries to put out a blaze in southern Israel near the Gaza border caused by incendiary kites sent from Gaza

A Palestinian teen jailed for slapping an Israeli soldier near her home in the occupied West Bank lost an appeal on Wednesday for her early release, her supporters said.

One of the residents in the village who witnessed the incident told Haaretz that Tamimi had been wanted by Israeli security forces and they entered the village to arrest him.

"The soldier responded by firing at the Palestinian, who was wounded and given medical treatment at the scene", it said.

Attacks have petered off in recent months as the Palestinian focus has shifted toward protests at the Gaza border, where Israeli troops have killed over 115 Palestinians wounded almost 3,700 more during near-weekly protests, according to Palestinian health officials.

Israel came under withering global criticism over the high number of deaths as its troops faced off along the border, including from allies.

The Israeli military said its forces were attacked by a dozen Palestinians throwing rocks.

Celtics 'scared' of Kyrie Irving's future with Knicks lurking
Durant's prolific performance, and timely contributions from other Warriors, were enough to take a commanding 3-0 NBA Finals lead. It's tough to build a team ready to win now but also prepared for the future, and James has caused some of this problem.

The Palestinian Information Ministry, in a statement, said: "The execution of Tamimi in cold blood, with three bullets at close range, proves how much our people are in need of worldwide protection against the Israeli war machine".

The Palestinians say most of the dead and the thousands wounded were unarmed civilians against whom Israel was using excessive force.

The Israeli military said on Tuesday initial findings from an investigation into the killing of a Palestinian nurse during protests on the Gaza border showed that she was not shot deliberately. The marchers have also pressed demands for a "right of return" for the descendants of Palestinian refugees to ancestral homes in what is now Israel.

Israel has accused Hamas of trying to carry out attacks and damage the fence under the guise of the protests. Israel has drawn global condemnation for its use of deadly force during the mass demonstrations.

Israel captured the West Bank in the 1967 Middle East war. US -brokered peace talks collapsed in 2014.
