Curry, Warriors off to fast start in Game 4
10 June 2018, 12:54 | Pamela Mathis
Shaking off one of his worst career playoff performances, Golden State star Steph Curry scored 37 points including seven 3-pointers Friday night to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 108-85 victory over Cleveland and back-to-back National Basketball Association titles.
Cleveland has won seven straight Game 4s, dating to last season.
That the Cavaliers were competitive at all-or that they even made the finals-was down to their talismanic forward, LeBron James, who was nursing an injury for the past three games. The Bay area team did it in convincing fashion, leading by as many as 21 points at the end of the third quarter, then toying with the Cavaliers the rest of the game, silencing the home crowd. But it's worth wondering how limited James was, and how much fight it took out of him, particularly after he almost willed the Cavs to an improbable Game 1 win.
And they may stay that way.
"KD has been fantastic these last two years, especially in the finals and so deserving of back-to-back finals MVPs", Curry said.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors in clinching the title - the team's sixth overall and third in four years - with 37 points, four rebounds, six assists, three steals and three blocks.
Then the league's best team tightened the screws on Cleveland in the third quarter, outscoring the Cavs 25-13 and prompting Golden State fans to begin those drawn-out "War-eee-orrss" chants that provide a flawless musical accompaniment to their 3-point barrages.
Even if he played second fiddle in Curry in the clinching win, it can't be overlooked that Durant averaged 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.3 blocks per game in the series on 52.6 percent shooting from the field and 40.9 percent from 3-point range.
Playing 41 minutes, Bron finished with 23 points, 8 dimes and 7 rebounds.
Trump hosts first iftar dinner
Ambassadors were invited from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, Bahrain, Morocco, Algeria and Libya. His successor, Barack Obama, used the event to show that the West is not at war with Islam as a religion.
Smith appeared on First Take (h/t Yahoo Sports' Ben Rohrbach) and said the Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics could all be granted meetings with James.
Following the game, he sat quietly in his corner locker with a towel draped over his head.
Win or lose tonight, when the final buzzer goes off in the Q, LeBron James better be receiving a standing ovation. Durant has already challenged some of the Warriors' young and promising players to raise their games. And it was the first time that a team had lost a finals in a clean sweep since 2007, when the San Antonio Spurs inflicted that pain on... the James-led Cavaliers.
"It was definitely the toughest", head coach Steven Kerr said in comparing the three championships.
"You don't want to cheat the moment", Curry said, the victory champagne still drying on his clothes and skin, wanting no part of any talk about dynasties or anything like that. But Golden State, catching a break when Houston star guard Chris Paul was forced to sit with a hamstring injury, showed a champion's poise by winning two straight.
"Self-inflicted, post-game after game one".
The selfless superstar with the deadly 3-point shot smiled, and Stephen Curry's teammates smiled with him.

You can't have flaws. "They made so many runs but over the course of 48 minutes our will took over". Golden boys: Kevin Durant , second from left, celebrates after the Warriors defeated the Cavaliers.
