Trump Will Not Be Inviting NBA Champs To White House

NBA champion won't be invited to White House

President Donald Trump speaks during an event on tax policy in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington D.C

Trump told reporters on Friday via Sports Illustrated: "I didn't invite LeBron James, and I didn't invite Steph Curry".

Last year, he withdrew an invitation to the National Basketball Association champion Warriors after Curry and several teammates indicated misgivings about attending a White House event.

"My attitude [is], if they want to be here, the greatest place on earth, I'll be here", Trump added.

Trump, fresh off canceling the National Football League champion Philadelphia Eagles' White House appearance when it became clear he wasn't going to draw much of a crowd, says this year's NBA Finals victor won't have the chance to turn down his invitation to Washington D.C. Because they won't be getting one.

"It's typical of him", James said of cancelling the Eagles visit. "Like guys said before me, I'm sure whoever wins this series won't be going". It won't be Golden State or Cleveland going (to the White House).

Head coach Steve Kerr was asked by SportsCenter's Scott Van Pelt about the report after the Warriors completed their sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.

"I think as long as he's in office, then the communication and things like that are going to continue to happen", the athlete said of Trump.

90min Meet the England Squad
It's something that I'm really looking forward to. "I am aware of the support from Yorkshire clubs when we travel anyway". A fully-fit England squad trained at St George's Park ahead of their final friendly before the tournament.

The statements by James and Curry follow the recent rescinded invitation of the Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, due to the NFL's national anthem controversy.

"It's just incredible. It is incredible", said Kerr, whose team leads the Cleveland Cavaliers 3-0 in the best-of-seven series.

The president noted that other teams have been happy to visit the White House. He told reporters today that he might pardon Muhammad Ali (whose 1967 draft evasion conviction was already overturned, in 1971, by the U.S. Supreme Court). Pretty sure the way we handled things past year, we'd stay consistent with that. "I think we all look forward to the day when we can go back to just having a celebration of athletic achievement and celebrate Americans for their achievement, their good deeds".

"Let's not let someone uninviting you from their house take away from their championship", James said later, Sports Illustrated reported.

The WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx also didn't receive an invitation from Trump and instead chose to a spend day of service in Washington, D.C., this week. Golden State's Kevin Durant said.

Similarly, Curry said: "I agree with 'Bron".
