Gmail for Android is Finally Going to Let You Customize Swipe Actions

Gmail for Android

It appears Google isn't done making Gmail a lot more useful. Earlier Google updated its Gmail for desktop users; nearly everything was upgraded to a new level. Sadly, though, that and deleting were the only options. Available with the latest update version 8.5.20, it is now uncertain whether the feature has been available since the latest version's release date or is a server-side update. Now, the search giant seems to have rolled out another draw to Gmail for Android: the ability to modify swipe actions. Earlier this swipe action was confined to just archive irrespective of the work.

In the app's general settings, you can assign different actions to either the left or right swipe gesture in order to perform any of the following options: archive, delete, mark as read or unread, move, and snooze.

Let us know if you are seeing the new options! With Gmail 8.5.20 Google is now giving users no fewer than five actions to choose from when performing a left or right swipe.

The mobile app has supported swipe gestures for some time now, but the options have been rather limited - toggling between read/unread or archiving/deleting messages.
