CNN confirmed the death on Friday. In one episode of "Parts Unknown", he showed president Barack Obama how to slurp Vietnamese noodles at a restaurant in Hanoi.

On Friday there were pop-up tributes outside Les Halles, the NY restaurant where Bourdain worked in the 1990s.

"You know, to the extent that I was that guy, however fast and however hard I tried to get away from it, the fact is that's what my persona was", Bourdain said, referring to his "bad boy" image.

Psychiatrist Dr. Gail Saltz told "CBS This Morning: Saturday" that the best way to start a conversation with a loved one or friend you are anxious about is to simply start with, "Can I talk to you". He was a great storyteller as he collaborated food and travel to tel stories from around the world. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. His close friend Eric Ripert, the French chef, found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room Friday morning.
