Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign debuts in Europe next month
The six-speed twin-clutch gearbox, rear transaxle and differentials are also tweaked. The GT-R's "samurai sword" air vents aft of the front wheels have been lengthened and are again embellished with gold inlays. Well, the GT-R50's styling was left to Albaisa and his design teams in London and America. For the exterior Italdesign has come up with a unique golden two-tone effect, with highlighting around the front grille and bespoke panelling surrounding the rear windscreen. Gold accents echo the exterior treatment across the instrument panel, doors and the futuristic race car-inspired switchgear.
They've done a thorough job but does the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign signify anything beyond a happy anniversary for the two 50-year-old brands? "So to celebrate this convergence, Nissan and Italdesign created this custom GT-R to mark 50 years of engineering leadership". Called the Nissan GTR-50 Italdesign, the new concept not only showcases what a "without limits" GT-R would look like but in all probability, previews what the next generation of the Japanese supercar would look like. This is the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign prototype, a very special and, we're told, "ultra-limited" version of the Nissan GT-R Nismo. There's a more pronounced power-bulge on the bonnet, while the headlights have got thinner and sharper than the production model.
Interestingly, the roofline has been lowered by 54 mm.
The Nissan GT-R - and its Skyline-based predecessors - has always been an unashamedly Japanese sports auto, but for nameplate's 50th anniversary Nissan has chose to look to Italy to mark the occasion. The answer is a new concept auto, the Nissan GT-R50. All this goodness, rolls on Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on custom 21-inch wheels in black. The GT-R50 celebrates the 50th anniversary of both the GT-R and Italdesign, the design and engineering house based in Moncalieri, Italy. The normal GT-R's twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 has been supplemented with big turbos from the GT3-class race vehicle, along with bigger intercoolers, more aggressive cams and beefier internals including the pistons, rods, bearings and crankshaft.
That explains why the GT-R50 is covered by a smattering of gold accents all around, complementing the Liquid Kinetic Grey paint.
Inside, the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign features two types of carbon-fibre finishes used across its centre console, instrument panel and door linings, along with Alcantara and Italian leather on the seats. The steering wheel is bespoke and lots of Alcantara is used for the seats and other surfaces along with gold accents inside the auto. The bright red calipers of the Brembo brake system wink at onlookers from inside those wheels.

Wilder: ‘Coward’ Joshua avoiding me
Both guys can fight twice before then, and set up a showdown at Wembley that will be bigger in 2019 than it will right now. Wilder will have to wait til at least the winter now to face Joshua, and let's hope the two can one day lock horns.
