Anti-abortion advocates rally outside of the Supreme Court during the March for Life

President Donald Trump on Saturday said he'll name his pick to replace Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court on July 9, "the first Monday after the July 4th Holiday".

There is no nominee yet, but Trump indicated on Friday he will likely pick from a short list of roughly five candidates, all of which have bona fides among conservatives and align ideologically with Justice Neil Gorsuch.

Other evangelical advisers to Trump's administration and campaign said sweeping changes to abortion law would not be as easy as a change at the Supreme Court level. Earlier in the day Gorsuch, 49, was sworn in as the 113th Associate Justice in a private ceremony at the Supreme Court.

"They're smart and tapped into the conservative legal community", he said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

This game sounds like an absolute cracker but, if I'm being honest, it's not really. Argentina have won the World Cup twice (1978, 1986), France once (1998).

If, as President Trump has repeatedly pledged, he nominates an anti-choice justice who is confirmed by the Senate, there are already cases in the pipeline that could give the supreme court an opportunity to severely limit women's access to abortion, either by overturning Roe v Wade or hollowing out its protections.

Tony Perkins, who leads the socially conservative Family Research Council, said abortion was simply "a factor" in evangelicals' excitement over a more conservative Supreme Court. Thus far, the focus from both sides has been on whether Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion, could be reversed. "And they are going to need cases that they can use to reverse those frightful decisions of the liberal majority in the past that have undermined the Constitution and really just abused our own personal rights". He said we are not final because we are infallible, we are infallible what we are final. Donnelly has traveled with Trump on Air Force One, and appeared alongside the president at a recent bill signing ceremony at the White House. He met Thursday with key Republican and Democratic senators at the White House in the evening to discuss the vacancy. It guarantees an even stronger and more enthusiastic link between white evangelicals and Trump, shoring up a formidable partnership for the 2018 midterms and the 2020 presidential race. Meanwhile, Mr. Trump received a prank call Friday from comedian John Melendez, who posed as a New Jersey Sen.

"The courts have been at the very center of the relationship", Moore said.

White House Counsel Don McGahn will be Trump's lead adviser on the pick, having successfully guided the nomination of Justice Neil Gorsuch through the selection and confirmation process past year, White House sources said.

Trump's nominee must win confirmation by the Senate.
