Peak heat indices will remain in the upper 90°s to near 100° for the next several days. Even with temperatures in the 80s, temperatures inside a vehicle can reach over 100 degrees in 20 minutes. SUNDAY - Sunny and Dangerously Hot and humid, Heat Index 100+.

The heat will stick around during the first week of July. Victims of this illness should be treated in the same ways as those with heat exhaustion but do not give fluids. If you plan on spending time outdoors, such as at the beach, pool or ballpark, should keep in mind to use sunscreen.

Also, a must: wearing light-colored, light-weight clothing and drinking plenty of water. Also, 911 should be immediately called, as heat stroke is a medical emergency. The state recommends staying inside in air-conditioned buildings and avoiding strenuous activity to decrease the risk of heat-related illness. This is unsafe for anyone working outside and for those without air conditioning, it can be life-threatening.
