Body in a morgue

Local reports say the woman was among a number of people caught up in a auto crash on June 24 which left two others dead.

However a morgue worker checked on the body in the mortuary fridge sometime later only to discover she was breathing.

The dead giveaway came when staffers at the Carleton morgue in South Africa pulled the woman's body out of the refrigerator and found she was very much alive, according to Times Live.

She is now being treated at a hospital.

"This did not happen because our paramedics are not properly trained", Mr Bradnick told TimesLive.

"Equipment used to determine life showed no form of life on the woman", he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo says 'not the time' to discuss Portugal future
He had scored just one goal in each of the last two World Cups in South Africa and Brazil, and both came in losing efforts. The goal brought extra pressure on Portugal who were already finding it tough to break Uruguay's defence.

"You never expect to open a fridge and find someone in there alive", the source added.

"As a family we won't talk about this unless the police, paramedics and the mortuary officials who were involved are present", the man said. "The injuries, especially to her head, were so bad you could not work out her age or size", said Bradnick.

But a source from the morgue said when his colleagues loaded bodies into the fridges one staff member returned to check on them. "There is no proof of any negligence by our crew".

"The crew is absolutely devastated - we're not in the business of declaring living people dead, we're in the business of keeping people alive".

The victim has not been named, but the BBC reports that her family is demanding answers because, thus far, they say authorities have offered them no "clarity" regarding how the massive mistake was made.

The Local health department has launched a probe into the oversight, according to the Sowetan.
