Light's multi-lens camera tech is coming to a phone
Light says its new smartphone could launch this year, but it will likely be very expensive.
Light showed the publication various concept phones and prototypes that had between five and nine lenses incorporated onto their backs.
The phone is rumoured to have eight lenses arranged in a circle around a central lens, according to the Washington Post. It's now working on a smartphone.
Brazil ready for a strong Belgium
The statement was published hours after the Brazil-Mexico match, Monday. "It's very hard to come back the way he's done". Brazil are five-time winners of the World Cup , but have not triumphed in the competition since 2002.
Reportedly, it plans to announce such a phone by 2018 end. Huawei is offering the most on the market with three rear sensors on the Huawei P20 Pro. but how about nine? In case you never head about Light: it is the brand which released the first computational camera with 16 sensors, called L16. Rumours have claimed that Apple could introduce a similar triple lens system on its iPhone series in 2019.
The L16 finally has some specs now - the 16 cameras include five 28mm f/2 wide-angle lenses, five 70mm f/2 midrange lenses, and six 150mm f/2.4 telephoto lenses. While these prototype smartphones have a fewer number of lenses - and will thus likely be less expensive than the L16 - you probably won't be buying one of these future Light smartphones for less than a grand.
Users of this potential phone would have the power of a dedicated camera rolled up into the convenience of their smartphone, all while being able to fit snugly inside anyone's pocket. Companies are chomping at the bit to make their cameras more reliable, work better in low light, and add features that people want. The camera then uses algorithms to combine them into one high-resolution image. And these features are what we expect to see in the upcoming smartphone with 9 cameras.
