New Zealand has moved a step closer toward extraditing Kim Dotcom, after the Court of Appeal ruled on Thursday in favor of the U.S. case.

The latest decision comes more than six years after USA authorities shut down Dotcom's file-sharing website Megaupload and filed charges of conspiracy, racketeering and money laundering against the men.

Along with three co-defendants, Dotcom was indicted by a United States grand jury on a range of charges including conspiracy to commit racketeering, wire fraud, conspiracy to infringe copyright on a commercial scale and money laundering.

New Zealand's Court of Appeal upheld the charges against Mr Dotcom and his Megaupload cofounders Mattias Ortmann, Bram van der Kolk and Finn Batato.

Dotcom will now make a final appeal to the Supreme Court, the highest judicial body in New Zealand.

In his July 5 media statement, Dotcom continued: "To say that I am extremely disappointed by the decision of the Court of Appeal today is an understatement".

A German national, Dotcom, founder of the now-defunct Megaupload filesharing website, has been fighting his extradition since his arrest at his Auckland home in 2012.

He said the court's interpretation of the relevant copyright provisions can not be right, and the precedent set has ramifications in New Zealand outside his case.

He persuaded nations to curtail purchases of Iranian oil to pressure Iran to agree to limits on its nuclear program. Summer driving is having its typical effect on gas demand, which in turns increases the price at the pump.

In its 120-page judgement, the Court of Appeal indicated it wanted the matter resolved swiftly.

Dotcom disputed the court's interpretation of copyright provisions.

"We are satisfied New Zealand law permits extradition for copyright infringement in the circumstances of this case", said the court's decision, by Justices Kós, French and Miller.

If found guilty, they could face decades in prison.

On February 6, 2012, a United States grand jury indicted the group, and the USA has sought their extradition ever since.

"We will seek review with the NZ Supreme Court", he tweeted.

In the same year, his New Zealand manssion was raided by armed police teams assisted by the American FBI.
