- WWE has posted their first public comment on Brock Lesnar's appearance at UFC 226 and upcoming fight with Daniel Cormier.

"I, ugh, I, ugh, I was a heavyweight a long time and I left the division", Cormier (21-1) said. But when they stepped on the scales Friday morning, Cormier (246 pounds) actually outweighed Miocic (242 1/2). Cormier and Lesnar are expected to battle for the UFC heavyweight title sometime before the year is out. He has an impeccable resume, both earlier in his career as a heavyweight and now as the light heavyweight champion, against everyone not named Jon Jones.

Cormier's weight jump was only the 3rd "Superfight" in UFC history, the first two were fights that shifted the MMA landscape dramatically: GSP vs BJ Penn in 2009, and Conor McGregor's most recent fight in the sport. It's exactly what he did against Oezdemir, a devastating puncher like Miocic, until he was able to get the fight to the floor where the former Olympic wrestler lives and breathes. Despite Cormier being a vocal critic of fighters who test positive for banned substances, he's willing to give Brock Lesnar a pass.

"I never thought I'd get to fight him".

The heavyweight title is on the line and below we discuss why the oddsmakers have it all wrong as Daniel Cormier is poised to capture his second divisional crown. Cormier swarmed, the referee had no choice but to stop the fight.

The UFC's annual International Fight Week show in its hometown also includes a tantalizing heavyweight matchup between sluggers Derrick Lewis and Francis Ngannou.

Here's the thing with massive events like UFC 226: high-profile, critically important fights only create the need for even more high-profile, critically important fights.

Cormier is at least 5 inches shorter than the 6-foot-4 Miocic, who has a whopping 8-inch reach advantage. The fight must take place in 2018 for the wagers to pay out.

The American had some limited success with kicks and at least appeared to be trying to push forward at points, but overall the bout was a crashing disappointment as the octagon was showered with boos from the nonplussed Las Vegas crowd.
