Rodina called Williams her idol and one look at Williams' performance it was clear to see why.

Serena Williams' Wimbledon tournament rolls on, as the women's quarterfinals will be without a top-10 player for the first time in the Open era.

"I don't think this has happened to this extreme".

No. 25 seed Serena Williams clinched a spot in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2018 by beating Russian Evgeniya Rodina in straight sets Monday in London.

Having shaken off the rust following her lenghthy lay-off after the birth of her daughter Olympia in September, she is rounding nicely into form for the business end of the tournament.

"It was a good win but it was tougher than the scoreline to be honest". "For me, there's so much further I want to go to get back where I was, and hopefully go beyond that".

That might sound a tad scary to opponents. "She can really hit the ball well".

Giorgi, Kasatkina, Bertens and Goerges will each be making her debut in the Wimbledon quarterfinals.

'I'm just only in the quarter-finals.
