Moscow has rejected the accusations and has hit back by expelling Western diplomats.

She died in hospital on Sunday and Scotland Yard have since launched a murder investigation.

The UK's top anti-terror police office said on Wednesday that he could not guarantee those responsible for the poisonings will be caught.

Skripal, a former Russian intelligence officer once convicted in his homeland of spying for Britain, was attacked with Novichok at his home in Salisbury, a city roughly 10 miles south of Amesbury, where his daughter had been visiting him.

"Dawn will always be remembered by us as a gentle soul who was generous to a fault", they said in a statement released by London's Metropolitan Police.

Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson on Monday told parliament that Brtiain also held Russian Federation accountable for the poisoning of Sturgess and Rowley.

Basu said he hopes Rowley continues to improve and can give police details about the location of the container.

"At this stage, we can not say with certainty that both the incident in March and this latest incident are linked, " Basu told attendees at Tuesday evening's community meeting.

The poisoning of the Skripals was the first known offensive use of such a chemical weapon in Europe since World War Two.

Sturgess and Rowley fell ill on June 30.

Police initially thought they had consumed a contaminated batch of illegal drugs but their symptoms prompted further testing which confirmed their exposure to Novichok.

Britain has blamed Russian Federation for the poisonings, but Moscow has strongly denied any involvement.

Britain has notified the global chemical weapons watchdog, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Yulia Skripal, Sergei's daughter, was in a coma for 20 days after she was attacked and was eventually discharged about five weeks after the poisoning.

Lorna Wilkinson, director of nursing at the hospital, said on Tuesday: "We have seen a small but significant improvement in the condition of Charlie Rowley". Her father was discharged on May 18.

Wiltshire Police tweeted on Monday (Tuesday NZ Time) that the auto was being "safely" removed and reminded the public that the risk of contamination with the agent was low.
