TMZ says the employee, Frank Ragin, made a gesture toward the former Bengal as he was walking through the airport. The closed-fist strike caused a laceration on Jones' face.

An argument ensued, and eventually escalated to a physical altercation after Ragin threw the first punch.

It's unclear was provoked the incident, but cops detailed that Ragin allegedly "made a gesture towards Adam Jones".

Police arrested Ragin for starting the fight, having determined that Jones only fought in self defense, TMZ reports.

Jones' decade-plus long career has been plagued with controversy.

Adam "Pacman" Jones has had a wild 11-year long career in the National Football League that's seen him be an All-Pro and miss two seasons in his prime years due to various off the field issues. In February of the following year, he was arrested for obstruction of justice following an incident at his Georgia home. He was charged him with two counts of battery and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries, the newspaper reported. Jones received a one year suspended prison sentence for his role in the altercation. Upon reaching a plea agreement, the National Football League suspended Jones for one game. Most recently, he played for the Cincinnati Bengals. He missed the entire 2007 season for numerous violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy, including his involvement in a strip-club fight that left a man paralyzed.
