ENGLAND PLAYER RATINGS: England lost 2-1 after extra time to Croatia this evening at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, but how did each player perform?

Roy Keane sparked a furious backlash last night after attacking fellow pundit Ian Wright for his boundless confidence before England's semi-final exit.

Keane, a former Ireland worldwide, tore into the hysteria and took aim at Ian Wright in the ITV studio.

"Before the game, the whole talk was about the final, the final", began Keane, directing his comments at Wright.

That caution proved to well founded as Mario Mandzukic's extra-time victor fired Croatia into Sunday's final against France as England's expense in a tense semi-final in Moscow, with Keane biding his time before revisiting his previous discussion with Wright.

Former Arsenal striker Wright, who likely had a few run-ins with ex-Manchester United captain Keane during their playing days, wasn't holding back as he bickered with Keane and - egged on by the latter's former team-mate, Gary Neville, even took the piss out of his Irish accent.

Wright argued in return: "We wasn't talking about the final, we were just having a laugh with you".

As Keane built up steam, Wright interrupts to insist he never declared England were going to win the World Cup.

Wright was bemused, responding: "Why shouldn't we get excited about it?"

'Get excited when they get to the final.

He added: "You are a grown man, you have played the game". You know how hard it is to get to these finals or even get to the World Cup.
