Kylie Jenner Covers Forbes As The Next Youngest Self-Made Billionaire
12 July 2018, 02:14 | Max Haynes
Kylie Jenner set to become the youngest self-made billionaire on Forbes list
Jenner's company, which she wholly owns, is worth $800m, according to Forbes. Forbes conservatively values the company at $US800 million, with an estimated $US330 million in sales past year. Another year of growth will make her the youngest self-made billionaire ever.
Being part of a family consisting of such powerful, influential women wasn't the easiest thing for Kylie when it comes to finding her passion. Now worth $900 million (knocking big sis Kim Kardashian off the top slot with an estimated $350 million), she is on track to hit the billion-dollar mark within the next year.
The young mum credits social media for her success, as she told Forbes: 'Social media is an awesome platform.
Kylie Jenner just landed a cover of a magazine nobody was expecting: Forbes' America's Women Billionaires issue. When Jenner chose to go into the beauty business, and make a career out of her biggest insecurity, she already had a massive number of followers to sell to. "I don't want to do it with anyone else, '" she recalls of the kits that sold out in less than a minute. "Thank you for this article and the recognition".
"Before I even refreshed the page, everything was sold out", Jenner said. "I've always loved makeup and worked really hard to bring the first lip kit to market".
"The most successful women entrepreneurs in the country are increasingly taking advantage of technology including social media to help them launch and grow businesses", said Luisa Kroll, Forbes' assistant managing editor, wealth.
Earlier this week Jenner, a mother of one daughter named Stormi, announced she would stop receiving lip injections, known as dermal fillers. "I've learned so much along the way and I hope to inspire others to follow their dreams".
But while such huge success at such a young age would usually be lauded, the reaction to Jenner's cover has largely been anything but, with people calling the reality TV star and Forbes out on the "self-made" description.
