Target Field dumps disgraced pizza vendor Papa John's

The Senate majority leader addressed reports that the Louisville-based pizza chain's founder, John Schnatter, used a racial slur during a conference call in May.

Louisville native and commit Aidan Robbins feels the same.

Unfortunately, Schnatter's deal with UofL is a little more complicated than most realized.

Papa John's will pull the image of founder John Schnatter from its logo and TV adverts after he used the N-word during a media training session about how to avoid PR blunders.

When discussing how he would distance himself from racist groups, Mr Schnatter said that Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC, had never faced criticism for using the N-word, Forbes reported.

The naming rights deal for the football stadium is unique, because the school's deal is with Schnatter, not the Papa John's brand.

Schnatter has always been the face of the pizza brand, and the company has acknowledged in regulatory filings its business could be harmed if Schnatter's reputation was damaged.

Isaiah Thomas, Nuggets Agree On One-Year Deal For Minimum
The uncertainty surrounding his hip injury got him shipped out of Boston and to Cleveland. There are still injury concerns, but the Nuggets feel comfortable taking this risk.

Schnatter - always been the face of Papa John's brand - is still the company's largest shareholder and remains on its board, but top executives plan on removing his image from marketing materials following the latest controversy.

In a statement released by Papa John's, Schnatter said reports attributing use of "inappropriate and hurtful" language to him were true. Schnatter has resigned from the university's board of trustees.

Last year, John blamed poor pizza sales on football players kneeling during the National Anthem to protest police brutality and racism in America. The Kansas City Royals also stepped away from Papa John's, as did the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays.

Major League Baseball had also said it was indefinitely suspending a promotion with Papa John's that offered people discounts at the pizza chain after a player hit a grand slam.

The University of Louisville is renaming Papa John's Cardinal Stadium effective immediately, the school announced Friday. But, "I said it, and it's wrong", he said. At the time, Papa John's was the official pizza sponsor of the NFL. Take, for example, one from the summer of 2016, when Schnatter's usual red Papa John's shirt was replaced with a "Ghostbusters" jumpsuit in a 30-second TV spot and on a movie-themed pizza box.

Papa John's International Inc., which began operations in 1984, has more than 5,200 locations globally.
