Ben Stokes was at Bristol Crown Court for the second day of his trial
A former soldier was filmed running towards Ben Stokes carrying a metal bar moments after being knocked out by the England cricketer during a violent brawl, a court was told today.
On the CCTV footage shown to the jury, Stokes and fellow England cricketer Alex Hales are seen catching up with the four and overtaking them and then, the prosecution claimed, Stokes can be seen turning to look back at Barry and Ali.
On Monday's opening day of the trial, jurors saw footage of Stokes, 27, brawling with 27-year-old Ryan Ali and Ryan Hale, 28, outside Mbargo in the early hours of September 25 last year.
Stokes and several other England players had gone to Mbargo to celebrate a one-day worldwide win over the West Indies last September. All three men are standing trial and deny affray.
"I asked him (Stokes), "If you are going to start on someone, start on me", he said. I took exception and said "leave it out".
"They had shown a willingness to use weapons in attacking people and were willing to gang up such that at points, the pair of them were attacking me on my own".
"I was anxious it might be two on to one and I knew one had had a bottle just before this", he said.
