T-Mobile now offers a less expensive unlimited plan
T-Mobile this Friday will start offering a cheaper version of its unlimited plan, dubbed T-Mobile Essentials, priced at four lines for $120.
T-Mobile Essentials "is designed for those who say they just want the basics: unlimited talk, text and smartphone data in the USA", T-Mobile said. "During times and places with heavy network demand, Essentials customers may notice slower speeds than other customers", T-Mobile warned in a statement.
To hit those prices, customers need to select auto-pay (otherwise it's $5 more per line per month), and video will be downcoded to standard definition to come as unlimited data. The breakdown is $60 for the first line, $30 for the second and then $15 per line for lines three through six.
T-Mobile Essentials will be available starting August 10.

British Open: Georgia Hall claims first major victory
In 2017, Hall returned to the Women's British Open to finish in tied-third, a high she matched in the World Ladies Championship. Annes on August 5, 2018 in Lytham St Annes, England. 'It's too good to be true really, ' Hall said after her win.
The savings get a little better when you add two lines of Essentials, which costs $90 ($106 with the nationwide average tax). They still benefit from T-Mobile Tuesdays deals, unlimited 3G mobile hotspot data and unlimited calls, SMS and 2G data in Mexico and Canada, plus unlimited texting in other countries.
The plan is a viable option for those who are looking to save money on their phone bill and don't need or want Netflix and the worldwide data.
"The Un-carrier wants to make it easy", CEO John Legere said in a press release. In T-Mobile's home state of Washington, the combined federal, state, and local rate is 25.6%, which is enough to bring a single line of T-Mobile Essentials to $75. Also of note is that taxes and fees are extra with T-Mobile Essentials. Is T-Mobile still the UnCarrier? T-Mo also says that if you switch to the new plan, you will lose discounts on service like free line promotions, but you can keep most device promos when you're getting monthly bill credits.
T-Mobile has always been transparent, and this move is a step backwards for the carriers entire UnCarrier movement, the last of which was UnCarrier "Next": which included the movement to eliminate taxes and fees.
