Altogether, the company retains the rights to about 900 such characters - and you can bet they'll try and make a movie out of every single one of them, should Venom turn out to do okay. The Hollywood film studio may have reached an agreement with Marvel in allowing the latter to use Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it has still also insisted on making its own independent movies focusing on Spider-Man villains and supporting Marvel characters.

That's according to Variety, which reports that an R - which was to have been a first in the Marvel-Sony partnership - is "unlikely" at this point for "Venom", which will instead "push the very limits of PG-13 without crossing over into a higher rating".

They are extending that relationship with Spider-Man sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home.
They believe Black Cat can stand on her own and will feature in her own film. Prince-Blythewood will still be attached as producer to both films, but it doesn't appear like she'll be helming either.
Spider-Man's unique isolation at Sony Pictures, which had kept Peter Parker's tentpole movies apart from the Disney-owned Marvel Cinematic Universe, has nevertheless finally yielded some crossovers as Sony and Disney hammered out a Spidey share deal.
