‘Meet the Press’ Plays Tape of John Kelly Firing Omarosa Manigault Newman

The next record-breaking fire will happen soon. So how will California pay for

Omarosa Manigault-Newman claimed to have been complicit with the Trump administration in deceiving America during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday morning.

"I heard his voice as clear as you and I are sitting here", she said on the show.

The truly troubling thing about the tape, as an alarmed Twitter quickly picked up on, is that it exists at all. On Saturday, Trump called Manigault Newman a "lowlife".

Manigault Newman said she taped the meeting, which was held in the Situation Room, because she was trying to "protect" herself. She says she had seen him acting inappropriately at numerous events he attended without his wife at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, including birthday parties, fundraisers and golf tournaments.

Manigault Newman also alleges that allies of the president tried to buy her silence.

Todd pointed out that even after Charlottesville and Trump's equivocation in condemning the far-right demonstrators, the author still came out to defend her longtime boss. "I had a blind spot when it came to Donald Trump. I just I've never talked, had a chance to talk to you general Kelly so if this is my departure I'd like to have at least an opportunity to understand".

In the book, Manigault Newman, who was a contestant on Mr Trump's The Apprentice reality show and later served as a senior adviser to the president, hurls a litany of allegations, painting the president as scattered, self-absorbed, misogynistic and insecure.

She insists her firing last December was because she knew too much about a possible audio recording of the President uttering a racial epithet, which she claims was the subject of deep consternation among campaign - and later White House - aides.

She explained, "They continue to deceive this nation by how mentally declined [Trump] is, how hard it is for him to process complex information, how he is not engaged in some of the most important decisions that impacts our country. How he has not engaged in some of the most important decisions that impact our country".

A recurring subplot is Manigault Newman's enmity toward chief of staff John Kelly, who she accuses of "locking" her in the basement Situation Room in order to fire her on dubious grounds (she was accused of misusing the White House vehicle service). "And the fact is that this president is doing well for all Americans". "You have to have your own back or else you'll look back and you'll have 17 knives in your back". "And then you can go on without any type of difficulty in the future relative to your reputation", Kelly stated. "The president works with the secretary every day", she said.
