Three men have been arrested in Charlottesville on Saturday as the city braces for the one-year anniversary of the deadly "Unite the Right" rally on Sunday.

"I condemn all types of racism and acts of violence", Trump wrote.

With hundreds of police maintaining a tight security perimeter around a 15-block downtown area, Charlottesville's normally bustling business district was relatively quiet on Saturday.

Students say they're disgusted with the school because it didn't waive medical feels for last year's rally victims. Deploying riot police along the security perimeter, law enforcement went on to erect concrete barriers and metal fences before setting up entry points with metal detectors to screen rally participants.

Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old counterprotestor, was killed last year when a self-identified Nazi drove a vehicle through a crowd of demonstrators.

Last year, violent clashes with counter-protestors left one woman, Heather Heyer, dead.

The city is expecting large crowds to honor Heather Heyer, the 32-year-old killed when a vehicle rammed into a packed street of counter-protesters in downtown Charlottesville on August 12 2017.

Kibiriti Majuto, a coordinator for UVA Students United, said the students moved to another part of campus because they didn't want to be "caged" in the area where the planned rally area.

"They marched chanting the slogans "Jews will not replace us" and 'blood and soil, ' a classic Nazi chant", Lance said of the Virginia rally.

The president of the University of Virginia has offered an apology to the students and community members who faced off a year ago against white supremacists during a march through campus.

Opponents are mobilizing in Washington, D.C.to confront hundreds of white supremacists after an organizer of last year's Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, was granted permission to stage another demonstration outside the White House on the one-year anniversary Sunday.

Sunday's Unite the Right rally in LaFayette Park near the White House is organized by Jason Kessler, who invited the NSM to the Charlottesville event. Counterdemonstrator Heather Heyer was killed when a man who police say identified himself as a Nazi drove a auto into a crowd, and two Virginia State Police troopers in a helicopter that had been monitoring the civil unrest died in a crash nearby. The declarations enable law enforcement to access state resources, including the National Guard, if unrest breaks out at events in and around Charlottesville and outside Washington, where a "Unite the Right 2" rally is scheduled.

"People are welcome into the community, people are invited into the community", she said.

Earlier this week, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and the city of Charlottesville both declared states of emergency for events in and around Charlottesville and Washington, D.C.

"I felt the need to be here and support the businesses", Falzer said as she ate lunch at a diner on Main Street.

Kessler recently abandoned his lawsuit, but told the AP he is pressing ahead with plans for the August 12 rally in Washington, D.C.
