Hurricane Florence on collision course with Carolinas
Astronaut Ricky Arnold, onboard the International Space Station, captured the hurricane churning in the Atlantic as it morphed into a monster storm. "While some weakening is expected to begin by late Thursday, Florence is still forecast to be an extremely unsafe major hurricane when it nears the US coast on Friday", the NHC said in an 11 a.m.
"Get prepared on the East Coast, this is a no-kidding nightmare coming for you", he added. Forecasters said Florence could become an extremely risky major hurricane sometime Monday and remain that way for days.
Spieth doesn't qualify for Tour Championship
It means that for the first time since he turned professonal, Spieth will finish the season without a victory to his credit. He will have an unexpected week off before joining the American team for the September 28-30 Ryder Cup in Paris.
"The crew of @Space_Station is thinking of those who will be affected", Arnold said in a tweet. Since reliable record-keeping began more than 150 years ago, North Carolina has only been hit by one Category 4 hurricane: Hazel, with 210 km/h winds in 1954.
"The earliest reasonable time that tropical-storm-force winds will reach the coast of the Carolinas is Wednesday night, but the most likely time is Thursday morning", the National Hurricane Center said.

While meteorologists warn of the strength and size of Hurricane Florence, nothing is more eye-opening than actually seeing the storm, especially from space. Gerst wrote. "It's chilling, even from space".

Hurricane Florence: the eye of the storm from space
Many more were left to wonder where they might be safe if days of torrential rains unleash floods from the mountains to the sea. This could be exacerbated by a slowing or stalling of the storm as it reaches the coast. "Instead, it'll just sit and spin".
Jon Gruden throws all the blame on Khalil Mack
Matt Patricia of the Detroit Lions and Jon Gruden of the Oakland Raiders had a chance to reverse that trend ... but they didn't. Mack was holding out over a contract dispute, which many can argue he rightfully deserved, but the Raiders brass disagreed.
Kavanaugh Opponents Play Hardball With Sen. Collins
In a few days, $800k+ has been raised to fund a challenger to @SenatorCollins in 2020 if she votes to confirm Kavanaugh. But if Manchin voted against Kavanaugh, Morrissey would no doubt use that issue against him in attack ads .
