Mauricio Pochettino is sweating on the fitness of Dele Alli

Tottenham Hotspur were initially expecting the captain to return swiftly, but a recent update by the club this afternoon has insisted he will be out for "several weeks".

"[Dele] Alli is a bit unlucky, he suffered a small injury after 20 minutes against Spain (last weekend)", said Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Pochettino said he was glad that no one was injured by Lloris, who was stopped at 2.0am on a Friday driving his Porsche Panamera erratically, having earlier run a red light.

She said: "This is a very serious offence, as you know". All the women, men, people can make a mistake.

"And of course now it is a massive lesson for him, a life lesson".

"In this situation he has spent a period where he was fighting with this situation, and now I think he's accepting that and he's going to move on and play his best, of course".

Boateng called Mourinho to turn down Man United
Alderweireld also also heavily linked with United, but he insisted on Tuesday that he was never close to leaving Tottenham. He has recalled why his move to United failed and what he told Mourinho on the phone when informing him of his decision.

"Of course we had a conversation and he explained all that happened", said Pochettino.

"Only we need to try, that he understands, and how he understands that it was a mistake".

And Pochettino is under no illusions over how tough the match will be for his Tottenham side. He decided at the time to keep faith with the Frenchman as his captain but says Lloris was preparing himself for any and all punishments. "I made a mistake and now I need to pay".

"If not, we're not going to take a risk because he missed a lot of games and we have ahead of lot of games to play".

Pochettino also insists he has no concerns about the form of Harry Kane, who has made a sluggish start to the season after his World Cup exertions.

"I'm not disappointed with him", he said.
