'Vice' trailer makes Dick Cheney's assault on America look glamorous

03 October 2018, 11:11 | Max Haynes

Actor Christian Bale completely morphs into Dick Cheney for his role as the former secretary of state in "Vice", as the film's first trailer revealed Wednesday.

The trailer cuts straight to McKay's point: that Cheney is one of the most important figures on the world stage, but one still poorly understood. Here's how he transformed his body to play George Bush's vice-president.

The 12-second teaser opens with a heavyset, bespectacled Bale-as-Cheney marching down a bleak hallway, with the words "some vices are more risky than others" superimposed over the frame.

Fellow The Big Short alumni Steve Carell has been cast as Donald Rumsfeld, President Bush's Secretary of Defense who sided with Cheney on an aggressive Iraq War strategy that included "shock and awe".

Brewers' National League Division Series game times announced
This is the Rockies second postseason berth in a row after making the playoffs previous year for the first time since 2009. Jon Lester is scheduled to take the mound for the Cubs while Kyle Freeland is expected to be the starter for the Rockies .

The biopic was directed by Adam McKay which also directed the critically acclaimed film The Big Short.

"What Christian Bale really does is he psychologically breaks someone apart and puts them back together again", McKay told Deadline. When former president George Bush selected Cheney as his running mate, questions about Cheney's real motives began to come up in interviews. She is now a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Wyoming's at-large district, a seat held at one point by Dick Cheney himself.

"I traveled with Cheney in 2004, covering the re-election campaign for @ABC", tweeted ABC correspondent Karen Travers. "I'm not anxious about him looking exactly like Dick Cheney, I'm anxious about him getting into the essence of this guy who's complicated - surprisingly or maybe not so surprisingly, depending on your view of him".

Vice also features Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney. Cheney is seen offering himself up for the "mundane jobs" in the White House such as; overseeing the military, energy, and foreign policy.
