Hope Hicks Joins Fox as Head of Communications
10 October 2018, 03:05 | Darnell Patrick
Hope Hicks resigned as White House communications director in February
She resigned in February, after serving as one of his most loyal and long-serving aides.
Hicks worked for Trump's campaign in NY, then moved to D.C. when Trump took office.
Hicks' new appointment will be a done deal once 21st Century Fox's merge with The Walt Disney Company is complete. Trump is an outspoken fan of Fox News, often promoting their programming on his Twitter feed.
On Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted to congratulate Hicks.
Once the new Fox is spun off, Hicks will lead the company's communications strategy from Los Angeles. The president months ago hired former Fox News co-president Bill Shine as his Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications. Although he is famous for the term "fake news", Trump has continually supported Fox News and its reporting.
"She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person", Trump said in a statement after her White House resignation, adding: "I am sure we will work together again in the future". So happy for my friend.
Fox today also announced it has tapped General Electric senior government affairs and policy executive Danny O'Brien to serve as exec VP and head of government relations.
Hicks had a mostly behind-the-scenes role at the White House.
Key executives had not expected Henderson to continue with New Fox, whose assets will be roughly a third of the size of the current company's.
