Brent crude drops below $83 on expectations Iran will maintain some exports

US may grant waivers on Iran crude sanctions

Pradhan said two state refineries have made nominations to purchase Iranian oil in November.

They reportedly took CCTV footage from the consulate with them back to Riyadh, while Turkish staff at the consulate were told to take holiday the day Khashoggi arrived.

It's been a week since high-profile Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi vanished, and answers are more elusive than ever.

Defying the Trump administration's call to cut off the Iranian economy completely, India's Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Monday that his country would continue purchasing crude oil from the Islamic Republic, Reuters revealed. It's a very serious situation for us and for this White House ...

Trump had previously said he was "concerned" about Khashoggi's fate.

Jamal Khashoggi, 59, has not been heard from his fiance nor coworkers after his disappearance on October 2.

The Trump administration has been criticized for not taking a firmer stance against Saudi Arabia and its leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has vigorously campaigned to convince other nations of its progressive reforms.

Karen Elliott House, a veteran writer on Saudi affairs and chair of the board of trustees at RAND Corp., said US support for the Yemen war is likely to be the focus of congressional criticism but won't endanger a relationship that has endured for decades, underpinned by shared strategic interests.

The US expects all countries, including India, to reduce their Iranian oil imports to zero.

Police also said a team of 15 Saudis were sent to Istanbul and were in the building at the same time as Khashoggi.

Further weighing on oil prices was "chatter that Saudi Arabia has replaced all of Iran's lost oil", said Stephen Innes, head of trading for Asia-Pacific at futures brokerage Oanda in Singapore. It was not clear whether the Saudis meant to arrest and interrogate Khashoggi or to kill him, or if the United States warned Khashoggi that he was a target, this person said.

Khashoggi had sought to become a US citizen after living in self-imposed exile since past year, fearing repercussions for his criticism of the prince, Cengiz wrote.

'We want to see what's going on.

Khashoggi's fiancee Hatice Cengiz wrote in an opinion piece for The Washington Post that she was "confident in the abilities of Turkish government officials".

The Post elaborated on those accounts in a separate story Tuesday, writing that the Saudi team laid in wait for Khashoggi to enter the consulate.

"I would like to confirm that".

'We have to find out who did it, ' Trump said.

Trump has forged a strong relationship with the Saudi royal family, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The 15-man squad arrived on two private planes at Istanbul's Ataturk airport last Tuesday, returning that same day to Riyadh.

The Washington Post also reported on Tuesday that USA intelligence officials had intercepted communications of Saudi officials discussing a plan to kidnap Khashoggi.

On Wednesday, State Department spokesman Robert Palladino said the United States "had no advance knowledge" of such a plan.

Turkey blames Saudi Arabia for Khashoggi's disappearance and affirms the writer never left the consulate.
