Nicondra Watching Tropical Wave In the Caribbean
On the NHC official forecast track, the center of the tropical cyclone will move through the Yucatan Channel on Monday morning and then across the eastern Gulf of Mexico late Monday through Wednesday. "There will be a significant threat along the coast of hurricane force winds, storm surge that could be exceed 6 to 12 feet in some locations, rains totaling 4" - 8" with local amounts up to 12", and isolated tornadoes.
The storm was about 130 miles southeast of Cozumel, Mexico and moving north-northeast at about 3 mph.
A hurricane center graphic showed the disturbance gaining storm-level winds of over 39 miles per hour on Monday and maintaining those speeds as it potentially hits the Florida coast east of Pensacola on Wednesday.

"We expect Hurricane Michael to make landfall between Panama City, Florida, and Apalachicola, Florida, sometime later Wednesday or Wednesday night", AccuWeather hurricane expert Dan Kottlowski said in a report.

This is now the 13th named storm of the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane season.
A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for the Cuban provinces of Pinar del Rio and the Isle of Youth and the coast of Mexico from Tulum to Cabo Catoche, including Cozumel.
